Personas & User Stories

Here is our completed work from deliverable 2. We have prepared 5 Personas with an accompanying 17 User Stories.

Restaurant Owner Personas

Victor Chang is a 33-year old restaurant owner of three restaurants in suburban GTA. His restaurants are very busy during peak hours, and many people order his popular dishes, but he wants to encourage more customers to come during non-peak hours, and to try more food from his menus. He owns a laptop and is not very comfortable using this technology. His primary language is Chinese, so he often navigates English websites using the visuals. Wifi is provided for staff members in his restaurants.

Ella Fields is a 40 year old female who owns a new restaurant in downtown Toronto. Her restaurant is not very popular yet, and she wants to encourage new customers and customer loyalty. Her menu has many different categories, and she wants customers to try a variety of categories. She also has seasonal dishes and drinks that she wants to promote that change frequently. As a new restaurant owner, she is very busy and wants things to be done quickly. She is comfortable using technology such as laptops and smartphones.

Customer Personas

Kelly Sawyer is a 17 year old female who enjoys socializing with various groups of friends at restaurants in the GTA. She likes to try a variety of new restaurants when she eats out. She gets bored easily, and does not finish tasks if they are not visually appealing or they take too long. She is very competitive in all aspects of her life and likes to receive rewards. She uses her smartphone often and is comfortable using applications and navigating websites on her device.
  • As Kelly, I want to compete with my friends when working towards rewards.
  • As Kelly, I want an engaging game interface so that I retain interest in the application.
  • As Kelly, I want to complete goals quickly so that I can be rewarded for eating at a variety of different restaurants.

Bob Smith has an active family with his three younger children who are picky eaters; they live in suburban Scarborough. As a result of this, he is loyal to a few restaurants and frequents them often. Bob keeps his children engaged with interesting events/activities. He likes to save money so that they can use it towards other things for the future. As a busy parent, he does not have very much time to deal with the nuances with technology; because of that, he wants to earn his rewards without much hassle. He has a smartphone and only uses its basic functions.
  • As Bob, I want to be rewarded for loyalty to a restaurant so that I will be able to save money to be used for more activities.
  • As Bob, I want a simplistic game interface so that my children can use it.
  • As Bob, I want to redeem rewards easily so that I do not have to spend much time on the application.

Charity Galvan is a 28-year-old who lives on a farm in Markham. She has heard of the variety in restaurants back in the city, but she does not want to go during rush hour periods or weekends, since the drive is already long. Her job makes her schedule very flexible, so she can go whenever she wants to. She does not care for games, but if there are good rewards involved then she is happy; she is motivated when she sees progress towards rewards. She is comfortable using her smartphone and is environmentally friendly, so she would prefer to have electronic copies of her rewards that she can redeem in store.
  • As Charity, I want my rewards to be digital and redeemable in store.
  • As Charity, I want to see my achievements progress for each restaurant so that I can see how close I am to a reward.
